Convertible rental in Kuala Lumpur: what to know
Kuala Lumpur is not an obvious convertible city. It is two degrees north of the equator, the sun is directly overhead for most of the day, and the afternoon storms arrive with about ten minutes of warning. All of that is true, and none of it matters between about 6.30pm and 8pm, which is when the heat drops, the light turns orange against the towers, and the reason people rent these cars becomes completely obvious.
The 718 Boxster is the one we hand to people who have not driven a mid-engined car before — it is the gentlest introduction to the layout and the roof folds in under ten seconds at a traffic light. The 718 Spyder is the same car with a great deal more engine and a manual roof you should practise once in the car park before you need it in the rain. The Z4 M40i is the softest of the four and the one to take if the drive involves more highway than corners. The Huracán Spyder is not a subtle car and nobody books it hoping to be ignored.
Practical notes we give everyone: the roof on all four is fine in rain but do not fold it while it is wet if you can avoid it, because it sits damp in the housing. Bring sunglasses and something for your arms if you burn — the drive from KL to Genting with the roof down will get you more sun than you expect. And if you are parking in town overnight, put the roof up. Not for weather, for the temptation you leave behind.

What does convertible rental cost in Kuala Lumpur?
The cars on this page start from RM 1,300 a day, and every one of them carries its own rate on its car page. Those rates are read live from our booking system, so they are current, not something we forgot to update. Message us your dates and you will get a full total back, delivery included.
Is delivery included?
Free anywhere in the Klang Valley on hires of two days or more. Single-day hires carry a delivery fee based on distance from our garage in SS15, Subang Jaya. Collecting from the garage yourself is always free.
What deposit will I need?
It depends on the car, not the booking. Most of the fleet is RM1,000, sports and performance cars RM1,500, and supercars RM2,500. Each car page states its own figure, and it is refunded in full once the car is back without damage or summonses.
How far ahead should I book?
Two to three weeks for a weekend, longer over December, Chinese New Year and school holidays. Weekdays are often available same-day. If your date is fixed, a deposit reserves the specific car.
